Pro-visao projects
Royal Treasures, Child protection and Education
After the devastation to the economy caused by 16 years of civil war, the last 2 decades have seen enormous progress in Mozambique in the area of basic education. The church still has a mandate, however, to demonstrate the kingdom of God - His love and light, to orphans and widows and the many vulnerable children living especially in the poverty-stricken and often drought-affected rural areas of Mozambique. Children are vulnerable to trafficking and forced early marriage, in many provinces, especially in the North
Pro-Vision desires to partner with local churches with a vision to help their community's vulnerable children through pre-school teacher training, school supplies, orphan feeding and other interventions such as the building of reed classrooms, water supply or medical and primary health care education. Father's House (Kaya ka Tatana ) is a network of safe foster homes, enabling children to be cared for in a family and learn important life and spiritual skills, while continuing their schooling and getting vocational training simultaneously. Royal Treasures fostered in this project are supported and nurtured in Christian families with wrap-around support from Pro-Visao as well as periodic camps for all the children to grow together in the knowledge of the Lord and His Word. School leavers are encouraged to study further and bursaries and sponsors are sought for this
We equip churches and Christian teachers for Child Evangelism and
Child protection & anti-trafficking – encouraging family based care
through Orphan Sunday (a world-wide mobilization of Christian
families to impact orphans through family care) and the Father’s
House network of safe fostering
Since 2009, Royal Treasures, precious, chosen and immeasurably
loved by our Heavenly Father, have been cared for, educated and
spiritually and emotionally nurtured, first in YFC’s Hope and Joy
House, then since 2016, in ‘Kaya ka Tatana’ or ‘Father’s House’.
Our three eldest next year will be completing degrees in Electrical
Engineering, Secondary School Biology Teaching and 5th year
Medicine, respectively.
Child Protection and anti-trafficking training are taught as seminars, and during Covid-19, even through Whatsapp. Our own curriculum is used to teach Protective Behaviours, in Portuguese, with an added anti-trafficking module. Forced early marriage is high-lighted and communities are educated through church groups and school parent bodies. We seek funding to print more manuals to roll out this important curriculum in primary schools in each province. Churches are then encouraged to teach the children from their community further, using Carlos Coconut clubs for children. Carlos Coconut is the character in the kids' workbook, used with a puppet made from a real coconut.
We have two Primary school children from difficult places who need
much healing from trauma. They need special help educationally, and
our littlest girl, who slept outside under a hedge and foraged for food
from local food gardens, has never been in school at the age of 12!
She is a delightful child and it is a joy to teach her to read and prepare
her to enter school in the 3rd grade next year.
